Welcome to August! We are more than halfway through this year; however, Hurricane season has begun! Although the season officially ends November 30, 2025, August and September are the most active for our area, with September 10th considered the peak of the season.

You don’t have to venture out far to find someone that was affected by the storm season last year. So many of us were unprepared for the devastation that Helene, and Milton brought to our neighborhoods last year, even after the “peak”.

A few tips to help prepare for the 2025 storm season, before it hits:

1. Secure your property by trimming trees and shrubs, removing dead or weak limbs that can fall on your home during periods of high winds. Bring outdoor furniture, garbage cans, and other items that can be blown away into a secure area. Clear gutters, drains, and downspouts to ensure proper drainage around your home.

2. Create an emergency plan by assembling a kit with essential supplies such as first aid supplies, medications, battery powered radio, and lights, perishable food, water for at least 72 hours,, and charge your power banks.

3. Review your insurance coverage to ensure you know your coverage and deductibles, and keep your documents in a easy to locate place.

4. Prepare for your pets. Make sure you have food, water, and supplies for your pets.
